Description:
Galveston Homeschool Performing Arts Co-op was established in 2003 as a nonprofit, 501(C)(3), organization to provide comprehensive, high-quality musical education to Galveston area home-educated students. We work hard to keep the costs to families at a minimum. First, we all share the work. Those parents with musical training and abilities share their expertise with the students. Those parents with no musical background provide help in supporting roles such as Nursery Coordinator and Communications Director. The second way we keep costs down is by fundraising. All families are expected to participate in our fundraising activities.

We offer a variety of classes in the three hours we meet every week:

* Choir: three age-appropriate choirs.

* Instrument Classes: beginning and intermediate classes are offered for violin and all band instruments for students in 3-12 grades. Rhythm band and recorder classes are offered to younger students in K-3.

* Music Theory: classes are offered for students in K-12 grades.

* Band: beginning and intermediate band classes are offered for all band instruments and for intermediate strings. Beginning strings must have one year of experience before joining the band.
